Typing Trainer
Learn to type faster with fewer mistakes. A light-up keyboard shows which finger hits the next key, lessons drill the keys you actually miss, and a curly-brace gremlin roasts every typo and hypes every streak. Swearing is on by default; flip it to Clean if you’re at work.
Practice text: enter enee tlnt lere rerlt lnntr inle tiel line lrlrer internet lilntl tile rli
You can't move on until you hit the lit key. New letters unlock when every letter is at your target speed with few misses. Esc starts a new round.
Your progress
Finish a round and your progress shows up here. It stays in this browser only.
Weak spots
Type a round or two and your weakest keys and letter pairs show up here.

How it trains you
- Accuracy before speed. Every typo you repeat is practice for the wrong move. Hold 95% accuracy or better and let the speed come.
- Your weak keys, not random text. The trainer times every key and every letter pair and leans the practice text toward the ones that slow you down. The Heatmap view shows where you stand.
- Touch typing from the home row. The finger guide lights the next key in its finger’s colour and pattern, with the Shift key to hold for capitals. Set Training wheels to Fade and the keyboard disappears as you get better, so you stop looking.
- Short daily sessions. Ten to fifteen minutes a day does more than one long weekend session. Stop when you get sloppy.
- Sit so it doesn’t hurt. Straight wrists in line with your forearms, elbows near keyboard height, shoulders down, light key presses. If something tingles or aches, stop.
Questions
- How do I type faster?
- Get accurate first, then speed up. Keep your accuracy at 95% or better, type by feel from the home row (fingers on A S D F and J K L ;) without looking down, and practise for 10 to 15 minutes a day. Spend that time on the keys and letter pairs you miss most, which is what the Learn mode does for you.
- How is WPM calculated?
- A word is 5 characters, spaces included. Gross WPM is all characters typed divided by 5, divided by the minutes taken. Net WPM subtracts one word per minute for each mistake you left unfixed: net = gross - (uncorrected errors / minutes). Accuracy is correct keystrokes divided by all keystrokes. Example: 250 characters in 1 minute with 4 unfixed errors is 50 gross WPM and 46 net WPM.
- How does the Learn mode decide what I practise?
- It starts you on six common letters and tracks your speed and error rate for every key and every two-letter pair. Practice text leans toward the ones you miss or hesitate on, and a new letter unlocks only when every letter you have is at your target speed with few misses.
- Which finger presses which key?
- Each finger owns a slanted column. Left hand: pinky Q A Z (and 1, Tab, Caps, left Shift), ring W S X, middle E D C, index R T F G V B. Right hand: index Y U H J N M, middle I K comma, ring O L period, pinky P ; / and the keys to their right. Thumbs take the space bar. For capitals, hold the Shift key on the opposite hand. The light-up keyboard shows the finger for every key as you type.
- Is my typing data stored anywhere?
- Only in your own browser (localStorage). Nothing you type is sent to Phulax LLC or anyone else, and the page loads no tracking or third-party scripts. The Reset button wipes it.
- Can I turn off the swearing?
- Yes. Switch Language to Clean for PG lines, set Roast frequency to Off for hype only, or mute the voice. The F-words in Spicy mode are always censored and bleeped.
